Carnelian runs from pale amber to deep burnt red, often within the same strand, and that gradient is what makes it worth looking at. An engraved silver-tone tube bead gives the gradient a centre — something for the colour to run towards — rather than leaving it as an even ring of warm stone.
Carnelian has been cut and worn for thousands of years, largely because it holds polish and colour so well. It is traditionally the stone of getting started: associated less with calm than with momentum, courage, and the nerve to begin something before you feel ready.
